Help to give high heating bills the cold shoulder in Derby
Posted November 25, 2025

An innovative pilot project to help homeowners save energy is coming to Doveridge on Friday 24 May.

The Home Energy Advice Team Hub (HEAT Hub) will be at :
Doveridge Village Club, 1 Alms Road, Doveridge, Ashbourne
10:30am – 12:30pm

The HEAT Hub offers local and innovative in-person advice to residents with homes that meet one or more of the following :

• not connected to the gas network
• in a conservation areas
• energy inefficient and therefore expensive and hard to heat (Energy Performance Certificate Bands D to G)

A short presentation will be followed by the opportunity to speak one-to-one to a range of professionals, including an air-source heat pump expert, a supplier of natural building materials and a local authority building conservation officer (to be confirmed).

Eligible households can also apply for a free Home Energy Plan, providing an in-depth survey tailored to their property.

The event is free and organised by specialist energy advice charity, Marches Energy Agency (MEA). It is very helpful to know in advance how many people are attending so please book your place here: https://heathubdoveridge.eventbrite.co.uk or call MEA on 0800 677 1332.

Doveridge Parish Council, Derbyshire Dales District Council and Derbyshire County Council are all supporting the event and working to encourage local home-owners to explore ways to reduce carbon emissions and energy bills.

Peter Burgess-Allen from Marches Energy Agency said:
“We hope residents will join us to learn about what they can do in their home to save energy. For anyone wanting to improve their insulation, install an air source heat pump or solar panels, or wondering what can safely be done with an older building, this is a great opportunity to access free support and advice from experts, available for a limited number of home owners across Derbyshire.”

MEA will be running similar events across Derbyshire this year, but this is the first time the HEAT Hub has come to Doveridge and residents are urged to take up this one-off opportunity.
